Welcome to 2025! We hope your holidays break was grand. IFHIMA is starting the new year with a three-part educational series Focus on the Future of HIM. Registration is open with an early-bird discount available until January 18.
Join health information professionals from around the globe to learn about the latest innovations and research in areas vital to improving health outcomes for all nations.
Here’s the lineup of events:
• February 26 – Technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI): Let’s Use Them to Improve Health and Health Outcomes.
• March 26 – Developing the Future Health Information Workforce: Perspectives from Research and Practice. We’ll also share preliminary findings from the IFHIMA AI Literacy Survey.
• April 30 - ICD-11 Implementation and Training Experiences.
The series will showcase speaker perspectives from Australia, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Kuwait, Nigeria, Republic of Korea, Spain, the UK and USA.
Series or individual event tickets are available for members and non-members. Note we’ve introduced an educational institution ticket allowing health information programs to use the event materials for faculty and student education. Continuing education credits will be available through our member nations.
Early bird registration ends January 18, 2025.
Scholarships for the series are available. To be eligible, an applicant must be a member in one of our categories and MUST be from a low or lower middle income country per the World Bank rankings. For example, a Nigerian must belong to HIMAN or an Indonesian must belong to PORMIKI. Applications for scolarships close January 25; thereafter, a workgroup will evaluate and choose the best applicants. Apply for Scholarship here.

On another topic, we are excited to invite you to participate in the IFHIMA AI Literacy Survey as part of our ongoing efforts to enhance AI education within the health information management community. This study aims to inform the International Federation of Health Information Management Associations (IFHIMA) and national health information bodies about AI education needs. For educators, it seeks to identify knowledge gaps and develop strategies to prepare students better. (Dr Fenton will share highlights from this Survey during her March 26 presentation as part of three-part educational series Focus on the Future of HIM.)
The survey is estimated to take 10 minutes or less to complete. Your participation is entirely voluntary, and you can refuse to answer any questions or discontinue the study at any time without any consequences. All responses will be kept confidential to the extent of the law. Please complete the IFHIMA AI Literacy Survey by Friday, February 28, 2025.
